Portfolio: Interfaces
1C:Enterprise
1C company approached us with a task to develop a concept of new interface design for their 1C:Enterprise platform. The task was set as follows: create a light, simple, elegant, innovative, contemporary, bright, clean, stylish, neat and airy interface.
This is how the interface looked like prior to our involvement:
Together with the experts of the company we have sifted through dozens of versions. Our trash bin was crammed with rejected textures, too vivid or too dull palettes, too contrast of too plain outlines as well as other details that could not have been realized for technical reasons. At the end we have split our final result into 200 minute pieces and together with 1C experts reassembled them into a new interface:
Take a look at the window frame hosting a multitude of buttons. By placing the most common (not specialized) tools here, we managed to lower the height of the header and freed up space for what is the most useful information for the user:

For the upper-level toolbar we have drawn several large and pretty icons:

On June 30, 2009 1C announced the commencement of testing of 1C:Enterprise 8.2 platform with a new interface. Here are some comments from the first users from the Magic forum:
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Interface is very cool, only the color scheme is lame; the rest of it is just Super! | It affronts the eye before you get used to it but I think the feeling will persist even further. |
| Cannot tell for everyone but I enjoyed the new interface. :) Of course the icons are very important. The Information, etc. Also, I would add an icon for working with two similar bases when two similar documents are up :( The rest of it is pleasing for my eyes… Showed it to a lot of folks, everyone was happy with it… :) | Do not they get it in Seleznevka that the interface makes up for the first impression from the program.. and 90% of the semi-blind and aging accountants will scream right there: “we do not like it, everything is wrong, we want the old interface back” |
| In my opinion the new interface is better. No abrupt color transitions. | The contrast between the windows and the background was significantly decreased. It is hard on the eye. I have noticed that in the new interface the contrast between the elements is decreased in various locations. For instance, the borders of the entry fields have become lighter… I understand that the creators wanted something new and modern but they should not have forgotten about the nature :) |
